28mm Miniature Figure launch!!!!

Mike’s Fabulous Flyer
He’s good with graphics isn’t he?

For several months now my friend Mike and myself have been working hard behind the scenes on forming a miniature company to produce 28mm figures.

Both of us decided that if we couldn’t get the figures we actually wanted, we’d get them made ourselves! We also felt that it was time to take our hobby interests to the next level, both of us have spent much of our lives painting and assembling kits and I guess we both wanted to be on the other side of the shop counter for once!

We share common interests but have complimentary skill sets which is invaluable in doing something like this…but even as highly talented as we are 😉 we can’t sculpt…or cast things!!!! So we commissioned some of the finest artisans in the land to do this properly!!!!

I think you’ll agree the sculpting is fabulous, and the casting is perfection itself….extremely high quality stuff!

We decided to start small, carefully and slowly building the business in a gradual way. What we offer is  pretty niche, we’re not so interested in large armies, just skirmish style figures for a host of different style games.  The quality of the figures will speak for themselves.

So our magical mystery tour begins,  We hope that you will come along for the ride…..who knows where it will take us?

Our figure is scaled in 28mm, and we call him “Big T” he’s suitable for a range of skirmish style games from Pulp to Zombies. He comes with an optional cigar hand, so you can replace the pistol.

He’s limited to only 100 copies in resin world wide and comes in a numbered packet, and is sure to be highly collectable, so if you have him on your festive seasonal shopping list you might want to buy him soon.

If this figure is a success we are looking to extend the range and also move into other genres.

We have some big plans, but can only do this with your support,  but for now we hope you will like our first foray into the world of 28mm miniatures!

Roman Battle scene at the BBC !!!!

During the summer I recieved an email from Dan a researcher for the BBC programme “Coast”. They wanted to use my model of the Romans Vs Celts Battle scene for a segment in one of their shows (series 10) , I believe, at Maryport in Cumbria, to illustrate a time line.

The model wasn’t actually mine as it was donated to my wife’s school, so had to ask them first, they were of course very happy to loan it out.

So I packed it up, very carefully and sent it on it’s way. Inevitably there was some risk attached, models are delicate things, after being away a couple of weeks filming and clearly having some adventures the model did return with some battle damage!

Dan and the BBC were very gracious about putting it right and replaced the damaged dust case lid…..and I fixed up any breakages to the figures. It was completely restored to it’s original condition and is now back at school being used again to help the children learn about Celts and Romans.

Series 10 of “Coast” is not due to be broadcast until sometime in 2015…when I have a date I will let you know!

It may only be for a fleeting glimpse but everyone at the school and myself included, are quite excited to see it!

As a sideline to this story it may be worth pointing out the Centurion leading the Roman wedge formation in this picture…….

……was donated to me by my friend Carvel, for use in this diorama. However, the actual figure he sent is kind of famous already as it had been photographed and published in Wargames Illustrated ( issue 306 top of page 86)…….the figure gets to be seen by a great deal of people/children while on dispaly at school, on this blog and now he is going to be on TV……(I hope fame won’t go to his white metal head or I’ll have to get him an agent!) he might possibly be the most viewed 28mm Roman Centurion ever made?

So I guess more positive Karma at work!

To round off here are a few shots of the boxed battle scene I neglected to post last time round.

Yellow Alert!!!!!!

Just a quick heads up to say that at some point this week I am hoping to make a fairly exciting announcement……… but you will have to wait and see for more details.

Spectrum Pursuit Vehicles (S.P.V.)

One of the most Iconic vehicles of all Gerry Andersons series, The Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle or S.P.V.

Finally managed to complete them, added some mesh grills to the air intakes, these areas needed a bit of work as the original Imai kit had missile launches here!!!!!!!!!!

One one of the vehicles I opened up the little cannon flap on front…and added a gun barrel and a Pyrotechnic muzzle blast from Armorcast

Decals/transfers are by the excellent Jbot  The gold S of the spectrum logo is stunning, compared to the orange Brown of the Imai kit decals. Worth every penny if you are going to make this kit.

I have included a 28mm crooked dice miniture for scale in one of the shots.

Captain Scarlet by Sevens models

Way back in the 90’s my wife bought me this model for a christmas present. it was pre ordered from the the now sadly defunct Comet Miniatures.

I believe he is 1/12th scale.

It had been in storage for some time and had taken a bit of damage but whilst i was painting the the smaller 28mm version I decided to restore him!

He now stands above my painting desk.

Captain Scarlet and SPC

I realised that I painted this much earlier in the year and sold it on ebay to raise some funds.

The car is the old Dinky model which I restored from a very poor state, I had to buy some spare bits, but the finished result was a massive improvement.

The figure is 28mm from Crooked Dice and is from the TLS range.

I made the tiny decals for Captian Scarlet’s hat and sleeves.
